Steve Qualified from Liverpool University some years ago and has an accolade of various qualifications: Bachelor of Veterinary Science, Diploma in Bovine Reproduction, Diploma of the European College of Bovine Health Management and a Certificate of Cattle Health and Productivity.
Originally from Spain, Mat qualified from the University of Barcelona in 1988. Following a spell as a gaucho in Argentina and military service in North Africa, Mat first came to the UK to see equine practice in Newmarket. That led to a permanent job at a mixed practice in East Sussex. In 1992 Mat had the amazing experience of organising the veterinary assistance for the 3-Day Event at the Barcelona Olympics.
Jane graduated from the Royal Veterinary College London in 1997. At which point she joined the practice. Jane enjoys all aspects of equine practice including poor performance, ophthalmology and general medicine, her specialist interest is dentistry . Jane gained her ESVPS Gpcert(EqP) in July 2009 and is part way through studying for her certificate in advanced veterinary practice. She became a partner in 2018.
Anna qualified from the Royal veterinary College in 2006 and joined 608 in the August of that year. Anna has a special interest in lameness and in some cases uses acupuncture to aid in rehabilitating horses and sometimes other animals too.
Anna became partner in 2018. She has three children Lily, Isabella, Rose and two dogs Rowton and Lucky. Anna also enjoys riding in her horse Nora in her spare time who she hopes to compete.
Gav joined the practice in September 2012. After qualifying from the University of Bristol he worked at Rossdales Equine Hospital in Newmarket where Gav got to work with some world renowned equine surgeons. Having gained valuable experience in Newmarket Gav’s special interests lie in lameness diagnostics and competition horse work.
Having grown up in the midlands, he saw practice at 608 as a student and is happy to be back in home territory. He became partner in 2018. Also in 2018, Gav’s wife gave birth to triplets! Which means he now has 4 children and no time to ride his ex-racehorse Poppy!
Sarah qualified from Liverpool University in 2002 and joined 608 the same summer. Sarah enjoys all aspects of Equine medicine, with particular interests in poor performance including back pain and lameness investigations and also causes and management of laminitis. Sarah also heads up the work with local animal charity SPEAR.
Lauren graduated in 2011 from the Royal veterinary college, London. A short interlude abroad for veterinary charities before starting at 608 Equine and Farm vets in 2012. Laurens main interests are in lameness workups, ophthalmology and dentistry but does enjoy all aspects of equine medicine.
Sophie graduated from the Royal Veterinary College. She enjoys poor performance assessment in the sports horse, orthopaedics, internal medicine, stud work and pre-purchase examinations. Sophie has been awarded a certificate of advanced equine practice from Liverpool University; this award is given to less than 10% of vets, she is also been recognised as an Advanced Practitioner of equine practice awarded to only 2% of vets.
Sophie can be seen at multiple FEI Eventing and Vaulting events where she is an Official and Permitted treating FEI vet. Sophie has a few of her own horses that she regularly competes on and has two black Labradors called Quill and Kibo that keep her company when on call.
Rupert graduated from The University of Liverpool in 2016. After working in mixed practice in rural Mid-Wales for two years he jetted off to practice in New Zealand. In late 2019 he returned back home to join 608, where he started as a student! Growing up riding horses and being in the Pony club, Rupert’s interests now lie in all aspects of Large Animal practice, especially in pet ponies, sheep, goats and pigs.
Born in Transylvania, John qualified from the University of Veterinary Medicine of Cluj-Napoca in 2013 and worked as a large animal vet in Romania until 2018. In his time, he has worked on some very large herds across Europe and has a vast range of experience across all farm animal Medicine and Surgery. He embarked on a new adventure with his family to the UK and worked in the neighbouring county before coming to 608 Equine and Farm Vets in autumn of 2020 amidst the global pandemic.
John is dedicated to better understanding the approach to fertility and nutritional problems of livestock. When he is not working, he is running around after his 3 kids and of course is listening to his also vet wife!
Sarah has worked with 608 since 1985 and qualified as Veterinary Nurse in 1987. She has worked with Steve all this time! Sarah has a specialist interest in poultry and cattle. She has taken extra courses in these fields and is a qualified lay blood tester, clinical coach and fire officer. Married with one son, Sarah now works part time.
Started work at 608 in April 2006 and qualified as a registered Veterinary nurse in January 2009. Angie will often be found either at the surgery at the end of the phone or out assisting the vets on their calls. Angie owns two horses Mara and Bonnie which she hopes to get out competing soon.
Started working at 608 Equine and Farm Vets in August 2012 after qualifying as a veterinary nurse. She is often found riding shotgun with Steve helping him with his day to day duties. Laura has a selection of ovine livestock which she breeds true to her background growing up on a farm.
Qualified at 608 in 1975 and has worked for 608 both full and part time ever since! She has had an array of animals from ponies, dogs, cats, hamsters and mice. Now she just has her two Jackapoos, Jack and Vera. As well as nursing, Pauline has taught at local colleges on various Vet, Nurse and Animal care courses. She is also a nurse examiner of the RVCS.
Shirley has worked for 608 since 1958 and has been answering all your account queries and general questions all those years. Shirley belongs to the WI and inner wheel and enjoys frequent trips to France. As the mother figure to all of us here at 608 she is a much cherished member of the team.
Pam is the epicentre of 608. She keeps the accounts up to date and you can also find her at the end of the phone. Pam also assists Steve on many occasions and they are the “Dream Team” at Bovine Caesarean Sections! She has two dogs and a small flock of chickens.
